Mill on the Floss

Working on my final paper (due tomorrow, haha) and...

Okay, can't lie, part of me has always liked the drowning scene—it suits my sense of drama, particularly foreshadowed as it is so very heavily, not just with Maggie but Tom. And as awful as he can be, there's something about him that I can't help liking and feeling interested over. Particularly adult Tom, oddly enough, as that's when he pulls his most awful shit. Of all those tangled relationships, Maggie's and Tom's is ultimately the richest and most profound, and it feels ... right that they go out together, in that 'supreme moment'.

That said, there's another part of me that wants them to live with their new understanding and eke some sort of happiness out of life. And Stephen Guest can fucking drown. I HATE HIM. ANGEL CLARE LEVELS OF HATE.
