I feel like the inability/refusal to distinguish between reality and the constructed nature of fiction is definitely immature, though not literally a matter of youth vs age. Not casual, exactly, but less ... rigorous? At any rate, IMO it makes for shallower readings. There's a place for those kinds of readings (it's fandom!), but they can't be everything.
