Re: I expect this will be a long reply

Yeah, they are too complicated for that kind of easy interpretation. (And also, I think Luke's drift into awesome Jedi Zenliness as of RotJ might in fact be at least partly explained by a conscious effort to mislay some of the Anakin-as-Vader tendencies in his own personality, as least as he understood them. So there is some of "Luke is like Padme" as of RotJ, but that it's a conscious choice and specifically a conscious choice to start trying to reject the negative qualities he's inherited from his father, because he's gotten a dose of them at close range--- and of course he is not always successful at this, lol, see: the duel in the Emperor's throne room--- but it's precisely that, "I am becoming too much like the bad parts of my father" that throws him back into Zen-Jedi mode. And I think Leia probably already got a really strong dose of "be like your mother", at least implicitly, from her adopted family, i.e. they would have been alert to Vaderesque traits in her even if they didn't overtly try to sell her on Padme Amidala as a role model, so for her, owning the Anakin-traits is the developmental arc--- as you say, going into that immediate action-oriented mode in RotJ, even though she doesn't know at the time that this is her being Anakin Skywalker's kid, something she inherited from that side of the family. And owning the good parts of Anakin, both in general and in herself, I think, would be a big part of her post-RotJ arc, just as for Luke, who was fascinated at the least about his father, disowning the negatives of his paternal heritage would be the "thing".)

YES THIS: ...omg, going from happy adrenaline-rush smiley Anakin at the beginning of ROTS to a widower, father of two, deranged Sith Lord within the course of a few months? ;_; So much this.

Loved the outline and proto-fic, as I said at length elsewhere, but it needs saying again! :D :D :D (Also, I finally got around to granting you access--- a quasi-holiday weekend seemed like a good time to let a new chum have access to my old posts, since I'll have more time to reply to comments!)
