Yes. I usually try to strike a balance between this kind of rant and the ways fandom can resist/recuperate aspects of the text (though the reality is that many parts of the fandom are attracted to these elements of the books and go even further with them than Tolkien himself did), but I think it's important not to confuse the possibilities of the text w/ my actual opinion of what it's doing as written.
