I love Jyn in Forces of Destiny
I've heard that people were complaining that the benevolent Jyn of Forces of Destiny is OOC because she's so selfish or some nonsense, and ... yeah, bullshit.
Jyn lives a lot in her head—she gets portrayed as a lot more overtly aggressive and emotionally-driven than I think she is—and her conscious approach to the world is definitely one of self-preservation. (Some of this is pure survival, but that's a tangent.) But when she does act without thinking, her instincts are heroic, without any regard for her own safety. She rushes into the crossfire to protect the little girl on Jedha, she flings herself in front of Kay (of all people) at the sign of danger, she rushes down to find her father in the midst of Imperial troops, knowing that a sniper rifle is trained on the area (not as purely disinterested, but still disregarding her own safety).
So, nah, Jyn impulsively flipping into helping a sad kid+fucking up Imperials is completely consistent with her character in the movie. Personally, I assumed from her unhesitating heroism on Jedha (...and her rap sheet) that she would have been doing that sort of thing all along—not constantly, but regularly. For all the HOW DARE around her, she's honestly pretty good-natured.
Also, favourite epiphany of the week? FoD!Jyn is wearing the clothes she picked up at Yavin 4, specifically the scarf she wears on Jedha. Not only is it consistent with her character in the movie, it happens during the movie. Cassian and Kay are just out of sight somewhere!
As as aside(ish), I've always thought that it's very ... snapshot-ish, in that we are clearly seeing the critical or establishing moments, but it definitely seems that reasonably significant amounts of time pass between the moments we see. This is pretty typical for SW; e.g., the Empire manages to send a team to Dantooine after the destruction of Alderaan, search the planet, and report back before Han, Luke, and Obi-Wan reach the Death Star—no way is that a matter of hours or (IMO) even a single day or two. We don't know just how much time the three of them spent together, but it's got to be a lot more than what we see. The scenes we see aren't the bulk of their interactions; they're representative of them.
I've got very much the same vibe (x10) from RO, where... pretty much everything makes more sense if we assume we're seeing a highlight reel of the "real" story. With respect to Jyn/Cassian in particular, I think there are two points where we're almost certainly seeing bookends on some more protracted amount of time: between Yavin 4 and Jedha, and between their fight after her father's death and their return to Yavin 4. The latter is—pretty obvious, I think, given that Jyn and Cassian return on more or less companionable terms, she feels betrayed (again!) that he didn't back her to the Council, and Cassian himself progresses from "fuck you, what do you know" to "I can be your home :)" between scenes. It doesn't mean there was some big romantic deal we just didn't see (the hangar scene is the big romantic deal, lol), but even if it was just silent reflection and reconciliation on both parts, it must have happened.
It's fuzzier with Yavin->Jedha, but where Jyn and Cassian were passive-aggressively antagonistic as they left Yavin, they seem decidedly more cordial as they arrive on Jedha. Cassian is pretty charmed by Jyn and Kay's bickering, and it's after she's served her mission purpose—getting him far enough to recover Bodhi—that he panics and risks everything to rush after her (JYNNNNN! 1.0) while the city crumbles around him. Jyn is less expressive (they're both reserved, but she particularly so), but she shouts his name and protects him, too, and seems generally on much better (and first-name!) terms with him. Even the way she needles Kay strikes me as relatively familiar.
I wasn't imagining anything on the scale of the sequence of events that would have led post-Yavin Jyn to a city on... somewhere, picking fights with stormtroopers while Cassian and Kay are doing... something. But I was imagining some level of team bonding, so ngl, I'm pretty gleeful about it. I also like the idea of—Jyn never acknowledging herself until the RO timeline? When she gives her name to the girl in FoD, it's the first time she's identified herself by name since she had to leave it behind all those years ago.
...Yes, I realize this is a cartoon short for six-year-olds that's undoubtedly using her standard costume for recognizability. Also, I'm a film purist anyway, so I'd never expect anyone to integrate it into their vision of RO or use it in serious meta.
Also, LALALALALA NOT LISTENING IN MY STAR WARS THERE WAS TOTALLY AN OFFSCREEN TANGENT TO THEIR MISSION IN WHICH JYN SAVED A SPACE CAT

...........The other possibility is that FoD actually takes place in a continuity where Jyn&Co are alive. Hell, that might explain the red hair. (Otherwise I assume a wash-out dye for the offscreen mission.) THIS IS ALSO FINE. :D
