Thank you! I definitely get the "I'd like to read your new thing, but I hate genderbending" (or whatever), which is like...why are you telling me? Oh yeah, I totally wanted to know about someone hating my favourite trope! Especially in fandom, with the barely-implied You're Not Like the Other Girls.
In this case, it was like "I don't like the ship in canon, but," and I know it's meant to be "you wrote x so well that it overpowered my dislike for them," without grasping that "I don't like your ship" and "you don't write the ship like canon" is not really something most people want to hear.
(This person turned out to ship my NOTP, lol, which has notoriously wanky shippers. So in retrospect, /shrug)
I find kinda contradictory that one would read a fic with a subject matter they don't like. I mean...if you don't like something, you don't read it? Those comments feel unnecesary.
