Not a crosspost

Every pro author I follow has talked about getting rejected a gazillion times and persevering, and it's like ... I have this short story that's been rejected twice (against very steep competition), and my kneejerk reaction is "okay, clearly not publishable, I should just put it away forever." I know that's a terrible way to think about it and I shouldn't give up on my child story so easily, but—respect to people who just keep carrying on. Someday, I'll get there.

Hugs if wanted. I guess the dream is to have so many stories on the go you're not worried about any particular one? ;)

I'm not quite there but I've managed to power past the initial impostor syndrome phase, so good luck.

You are an author I admire, so if it would make you feel better for me to brag about my semi-pro accomplishments (like, "I can do at least as well as that hack, let me at it!") let me know. Otherwise I'll keep quiet ;)

Heh well I haven't posted about it much on DW either, less from modesty and more from "not wanting to get my different names entangled" paranoia :P

Probably not helpful, but I have respect for you for sending it out in the first place; my reaction tends to be "but if it gets rejected that would suck so I won't even try...". Someday, as you say, we'll get there.
