Elizabeth’s call-out of Darcy at Hunsford falls into basically three parts:

1) Accusing him of what he’s actually done, for exactly the reasons she thinks he’s done it,

2) Accusing him of what he’s actually done, but out of somewhat different motives than she assumes, and

3) Accusing him of things he never did at all, in which he was not only innocent but specifically targeted.

All of the pieces are important to the scene and to its consequences.

Tagged: #vagueblogging intensifies #i'm not even vagueblogging at a specific person #just #people #specifically people who a) ignore that the proposal was fucking awful and elizabeth had every right to say so #or b) ignore that a chunk of elizabeth's accusations were dead wrong #also the 'waaaah it's about a woman transforming a man! problematic!!!' handwringers but that's a given
