ESB drabble!
I actually meant to talk about heteronormativity in Austen fandom, but I don't think I could stay awake long enough to even begin to sum up the epic issues there. Especially since my perspective is necessarily tinted by my grey-coloured glasses-- e.g., the fanon consensus on Charlotte Lucas is that she's repressed/hopeless/deceiving herself/putting a good face on things/whatever, but of course she must be straight, because she's a character in an Austen. My perspective is that Charlotte's defence of her engagement contains the most blatantly aromantic line in the history of forever.
(For the record, it's I am not romantic.)
Even my excuse for not writing it ended up meandering away. But anyway, for me there's actually quite a lot of intersection between the fandom's heteronormativity and asexuality issues, which is way to much to go into now. So instead, there's a drabble. (And though I generally use the word casually, the drabble police can rest happy in the knowledge that this falls within proper drabbling parameters.)

Title: Saviour
Fanverse: canon-compliant, c. Empire
Blurb: Leia hears him.
Pairings/Warnings: none
Length: 104 words

Leia.
She started.
Lando, busy at the controls, only gave her one odd look. Neither he nor Chewie seemed to notice anything.
Of course they didn’t. Luke wasn’t here, he was back at Bespin: already dead at Vader’s hands, perhaps, or more probably, frozen like Han. She couldn’t possibly have heard him. It was just – her imagination, tormenting her for leaving him behind.
Leia!
She hesitated. Even Han had privately admitted that Luke’s abilities went well beyond the natural. Was it possible – ?
Leia, hear me.
His tired, desperate voice cut through the shouts and straining machinery. Leia set her jaw.
“Turn back,” she said.
