It's a delightful bit of lore. Though this doesn't seem to be the time period JRRT was considering, ever since reading Judith Herrin's Ravenna (which I recommend on its own merits), I imagine Gondorian interiors in that kind of marvelous Eastern Gothic style, with the delicious mosaicwork everywhere.

I love the idea of Gondorian mosaicwork so much, honestly. Just imagine the colors!
