Same! I was just "what? WHAT!!!" And yes, always very straitlaced. More as a kid, but even now it's like ... over spring break, my best friend dragged me over a crosswalk before the sign switched and I was just HOW DARE!!!!
I do get that Lawful vs Good is a pretty natural conflict, but "then screw the law" always seemed a simplistic way of resolving it. More nuance, less cool kids, lol.
