- My dad is now 50! We appropriately mocked him. I couldn't take him shopping like I usually would for obvious pandemic reasons, but I promised to once it's over!

- I've pretty much finished putting together my 16th century reading list for my exams, which is ... terrifying (I basically have six weeks to go from 'hobbyist' to learning enough to pass my exams in Sep), but at least finalized. Now I have the 17th to figure out. And I need to finish the 18th, too. hahaha. ha.

- I posted on Tumblr about how aggravating Avatar wank is and how I don't want to see it and promptly got a message about how awful Zutara shippers are. I know they can be super wanky, but they aren't complaining into my inbox when I specifically said I didn't want to see it, so.

- On Twitter, I saw a graph about how Austen's characters would be millionaires and billionaires today, and I'm still boggling at how wrong it is. (Doesn't help that the OP is an asshole who characterizes all disagreement as just over-defensive Austenphiles, which is totally what scholarly engagement looks like.)

- I'm def in a Tolkien frame of mind right now, but the way the fandom works is just ... increasingly foreign to me. It's like, shitposts and cute(?) headcanons that I don't really get and dealing with #problematic elements by erasing them and so on. I get that it's how a lot of people enjoy Middle-earth (these days? maybe always?) and there's nothing wrong with it as such, but it doesn't click for me, so I just sit grumbling to myself in my corner of fandom. C'est la vie.

- A good friend of mine just had to get tested for COVID-19. :(

- I might get to teach Shakespeare in the fall!

- I'm really enjoying GW2 right now. It's such a good game.
anghraine: a man with long black hair and a ring on his hand (faramir [hair])
Some people have very low standards for what counts as "long hair" on men.

(Look, I've made two boards involving Faramir, but he deserves one all of his own!)
