anghraine: an illustration of the greek goddess athena with dark hair (athena)
It's always weird to start typing my url on a new browser or whatever to look up an old post or link to something I've already talked about. I mean, this is a normal thing to do, but the browser autocompletes with searches for my fic as soon as I type in "anghraine" and idk!

I've always found it strange to think that my existence would cross anyone's mind unless they're directly interacting with me, even when it's obvious that it happens. And the autocomplete generally directs to my AO3 page, which typically involves less direct interaction.

Anyway, I was just thinking ... damn, I'm glad Dreamwidth exists.

I didn't even use f-lock on the last post, but DW has the best way of handling it that I've ever seen (the distinction between subscription and access is genius IMO). Multiple icons and icon subtext are still fantastic! Tagging for organization that doesn't flow into a master tag of everyone using it is super relaxing—my blog really feels like my own. And my oldest friends are here. Also, I'm really glad there's still a place with no kudos/likes/upvoting function. I've posted over 1600 responses to people in my time here because it's ... the only way to talk to people! Not every place should be like that, but I do think some should.

And subscription/access counts aren't in my face unless I go looking for them, which are also nice. And of course, no advertisements or corporate nonsense. I like Tumblr a lot better than I used to right now, but for better and mostly for worse, it's no Dreamwidth.
