it's not bizarre at all. to me, at least. my experience hasn't been entirely the same but i recognise a lot of what you're talking about. we are socialised so early on about how to perform gender, not to mention the binary nature of it so that we have to 'choose' a 'side'. it's impossible to completely unpick what's been imposed upon us from that.
(and the whole 'girls aren't good at math' thing. WTF? i was excellent at math. my AP calculus class? all female. and my verbal and math SAT scores were almost exactly the same. and they were pretty good! though not as good as yours -- the verbal i mean. wow.)
(also, just as a personal anecdote, losing weight won't necessarily shrink your breasts. it has not been my experience, alas.)
