Diane Duane's Young Wizards books are up there with Lord of the Rings as my favourite fantasy books ever.  Mostly it's characterisation and world-building and realism meets epic/fantasy meets sci-fi (seriously, these have to be some of the hardest fantasy books in creation), but the icing on the cake is that crossovering is actually built into the 'verse itself.

To give you an idea, one of the YW!Powers That Be is still on speaking on terms with Satan the Lone One:  the One's Champion, the Lone One's favourite sibling back in the day, and the most badass Power that ever Was.  Over the course of the books, we discover that the Champion's incarnations include, among many others:

-- Thor
-- Athena
-- Lugh
-- the talking pet of some supporting cast
-- St Michael the frigging Archangel

Also, the Doctor has a brief cameo at one point (yes, that Doctor).  So the YW books are perfect for crossovers since they've already provided the rationale for it.  Naturally, I thought a YW/P&P crossover would be the coolest thing ever, since P&P can crossover with anything and anything can be crossovered into YW, wondered why nobody had ever written one, and half-seriously thought about doing it myself.

Then Roshaun ke Nelaid [...] strolled into the series, looked down his nose, and proceeded to insult our plucky, badass and extremely vain co-heroine.  They were off!  And I realised that my crossover had just happened.  In canon.  It was awesome and I flailed.

Alone, since tragically, nobody else seemed to recognise this glorious truth.

Until now!  OMG, the fandom always knew Wickham was Satan!  Also, Carmela as Caroline may be the most hilarious thing ever.  Caroline as an intergalactic shopping addict with laser guns and weaponised chocolate?  I need this.

She also had a meme, so my day is complete.

"One True Pairing" ship:  Darcy/Elizabeth, shockingly.

"One True Threesome" ship:  I've never thought about it, but probably Ron/Hermione/Harry.  Everyone wins!

Canon ship:  There are many, but Freddy/Kitty is a big one.  And Anne/Gilbert.  And Emily/Teddy, though the fandom doesn't seem to go for it.  And Cor/Aravis, and ...

"Not quite canon but should be" ship:  Harry/Luna.  *sigh*

"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" ship:  Kit/Dairine.  No.  Just no.

"You are one sick bastard" ship:  Darcy/Georgiana OMG EW.

"I'm one sick bastard" ship:  Henry Tilney/Elizabeth Bennet, Eleanor Tilney/Fitzwilliam Darcy.  Someday, I shall write this fic, and it will include the line 'surely you do not refer to my sister Tilney?' from a deeply shocked Darcy.  For the evulz lulz.

"I dabble a little" ship:  James Potter/Lily Evans.  I actually love the ship (hmm, Darcy/Elizabeth, Cor/Aravis, Dairine/Roshaun, James/Lily... do I sense a pattern there?), but haven't done much with it.

"It's like a car crash" ship:  Severus Snape/Lily Evans.  Like whoa.

"Tickles my fancy but not sold quite yet" ship:  Castle/Beckett.  I know it's the official pairing, and it's nice and all, but I don't really care about it much.

"Makes no canon sense but why the hell not" ship:  Darcy/Charlotte.  I know, there's no justification whatsoever, but they approve of each other and, hey, why not?  also, Georgiana/the viscount:  he never appears in the novel, she never speaks -- clearly they are meant to be!

"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" ship:  Georgiana/Fitzwilliam. *squick*  Also, Aragorn/Arwen leaves me rather cold, even though I adore Beren/Lúthien.

"When all is said and done" ship:  Booth/Brennan.  Someday, this will happen, and I will cry from sheer relief.

"Guilty pleasure" ship:  I'm not sure I have one, really.  I would if anybody ever wrote Faramir/Arwen, but this will never happen.

"I can't believe I read it and liked it" ship:  I usually hate reformed!rake stories, but I randomly adore Derek Kettering/Katherine Grey from Mystery of the Blue Train.

"Favourite older/younger" ship:  Aegnor/Andreth.  And by older, I mean a lot older.

"My first I could never abandon you" ship:  Philip/Aurora, probably.  Not the squicky version from the fairy tale, the shiny sanitised bland Disney versions.  They were so pretty and little!Philip was loldorable. *iz shallow*

Favourite "never-met" ship:  Elizabeth I/El Cid.  Their children would be Time Lords.

Favourite "pervy" ship:  Does Four/Romana count?
