*grins* If Jane Austen wrote in Old English, the only people who would read her work in the original would be scholars and language nerds. After all, 'hit sy sum sóþ eallgeléaflic geanwyrde' is a little more difficult to on the modern reader than 'it is a truth universally acknowledged'.
