It's a bit odd ... I own and like most of the Bridgerton books, and I'm glad that romance is getting full adaptational treatment, but I have no interest in it personally beyond a vague hope that it's popular enough to keep Austen adaptations coming out (as a fan-with-reservations of the 1980 mini-series and hater of the 1995 one, I'd love to see other people try their hands at a P&P series in particular, though the only adaptations I know of are already in high octane reservations territory T_T).

(But really, it's nice that we got a new Emma and are getting a new Persuasion, but it's pretty normal to get a straight adaptation of P&P every decade or so and it's been sIXTEEN YEARS. How long do we have to wait to get a new adaptation of Austen's most wildly & enduringly popular novel?! It's P&P! Just try something vaguely interesting and print the money! Yes, I know I'm petulant and spoiled but whennnn)

...I think this was the first I realized that Bridgerton is an adaptation, heh.
