Then I added:
Yeah, I still think so. Also: thanks, past Elizabeth, for enabling my suffering :) :) :| :'(
Random thought:
When Amon/Noatak takes Tarrlok’s bending, he says that he is the solution. A lot of us heard it as more of his creepy purify-the-world rhetoric, and that is totally possible, but … thinking back, Tarrlok was bloodbending right before that. Trying to bloodbend Noatak, even. And pretty “muahahahahaha ultimate powah!” about it. TARRLOK. Who loathed bloodbending generally, cringed away from using it on random animals, and point-blank refused to use it on Noatak.
Tarrlok himself says everything went wrong when he and Noatak turned out to be waterbenders. I doubt Noatak has the self-awareness to know how damaged he is, but Tarrlok clearly was broken by his own bending at some point. And Noatak can take it away. I’m not sure he’d take sole credit for bringing about general equality, anyway; he’s usually pretty keen on the whole cooperative effort with “my brothers and sisters” thing, despite the messianic myth he wraps around himself. But he alone is the solution for Tarrlok.
