I finished another chapter of my novel, and the next will certainly take me to 100k. The end is in sight! Specifically, my goal is to finish in the next week.

It's kind of unreal. I wrote the first scrap of this story when I was eight. That was twenty-seven years ago!!! I haven't written it constantly in that time, but I've always kept going back to it and it's taken up a lot of real estate in my head for most of my life. And I'm halfway through my outline for the final section ... I think there are either 2-3 chapters left and I've written 31 so far. This is happening!!

That's amazing; it's so satisfying to get to the point where it's an actual real thing that you (one) wrote, not just an idea! (And I am impressed at and envious of people who have one story/world/etc. developing in their heads for decades on end. I have plenty of writing ideas, but nothing that's been such a constant.)

Heh, I had a creative writing prof who had Reservations about how I funnelled pretty much every idea I had back into this one world, but for better or worse, it's what I've done 90% of the time.
