Talking about medical+weight stuff under the cut:
OKAY, SO. My last psychiatrist at the university leaned much more to the "psych" part than the "doctor" part of the job; she'd check my blood pressure and weight and such, but mostly she was like... a counsellor who could also prescribe things, and I could talk to her about all sorts of things, and I got good advice from her, and all that. Then she left the university and I got a new psychiatrist, who is much more doctor-y, and when I'm having serious problems, strongly urges me to see a real counsellor.
That's probably better in some way, but I liked the old psychiatrist better.
On top of that, though, the new psychiatrist is really fixated on my physical health, for a certain value of health. And she's a doctor, so okay, but I'm not very healthy and I don't really like talking about it when I have so many other problems. I've had a lot of depressive episodes this year, and I particularly don't tend to make very healthy choices within them, and had the decided feeling that I'd gained a lot of weight over the year and felt unhappy about it. And I just got some mixed lab results that she wanted to Discuss. Basically, my glucose is fine (my meds can screw with that and there's diabetes in my family), my blood pressure has dropped to a good range, my HDL is up to normal, my vitamin D squeaked up to normal, but my lipids also went up, and she wants me to see a dietician at the university.
I, personally, do not want to deal with more people, and already know perfectly well that I need to eat less in general and eat more fruits and vegetables. She suggested the compromise of making an appointment with my doctor (who I have never actually seen...), who I need to talk to anyway, which was ... fine, I guess, but meh, I don't like being pressured into things.
Meanwhile, nobody actually knew what my weight was because my scale's batteries ran out months ago, so I finally surrendered, found a new set of AAA batteries, and finally got the nerve to check it. Turns out that I've gained a grand total of 3 pounds since March.
I DON'T EVEN KNOW.
