anghraineSometimes I still think about how Tar-Ancalimë’s son is named Anárion, “son of the sun,” and while (iirc) we don’t know if it’s his birth name or a regnal name, it’s pretty amazing in either case. I mean, it’s very probably:
1) Ancalimë had a baby and was like … hm, I am basically the sun. Anárion it is!
or
2) Anárion decided the name he’d use as one of the most powerful rulers on the earth would be a reference to how cool his mother was.
#god knows what ancalimë's relationship with anárion was like overall (quite possibly bad) #but i think he must have admired her as queen #like #even if no. 1 #it would still be a choice to reign under a name that refers back to ancalimë's glory #esp considering the meaning of 'ancalimë' itself
