Even considering the special items (apropos to a rogue) and Guidance, a 12-15 bonus at level 3 is ridiculously good. He's an asshole who disapproves of. like. everything, but he is very good at what he does. Also, I love sneak attack! Especially given that I'm running a paladin, which makes it very easy to give him advantage.
(Now, if I'd just play enough to get the rumored tragic past ...)
