The Jedi are disturbing not because of the no-attachment thing, but because they’re raging hypocrites: samurai pretending they’re monks, and in the process messing up all those kids who are brought up to be monks.

YES THIS. The no-attachment thing would work for a contemplative order of Force-sensitives who came to it of their own accord as adults. But they hitched themselves to the Republic as its enforcers and so they needed a greater number of Jedi to pull that off and so they had to suck kids in early and indoctrinate them to maintain that temporal power.
