And, so with you on the disconnect between the non-emotional superstructure and the violent base. Because the Jedi philosophy would, IMO, work for adults who came to a contemplative order of Force-sensitive mystics, it's "just" that that breaks down when the Order is serving as the enforcers to a temporal political body e.g. the Republic.
