Even Ce'Nedra isn't immortal, just long-lived, and her two or three hundred years is only a fraction of Garion's lifespan. There's a vague sort in-story justification, but for me it's -- pretty strongly gendered.
Sadly, I am completely unsurprised by young white male geeks hating on women in any kind of authority. Even weaksauce authority like Troi's.
