Sep. 23rd, 2019 01:30 pmI’ve figured out why this paper is so incredibly difficult to write, but that hasn’t helped me finish it. >_<
(#i'm sure you all will be nearly as glad to hear the end of it as i will #but #like - my prof was perfectly encouraging about it but it's constantly like ... i have no business writing about this at ALL #and yet the structure of the course required it so...)
irresistible-revolution at Tumblr then asked:
I said:
It’s about the ties between whiteness and depictions of sexual abuse in African-American fiction (specifically, Invisible Man and The Color Purple).
And she replied:
(Looking back, I have no idea whether it was or wasn't.)

I've been rereading wgdots cause i wanted to immerse myself in your story again, and I got to the chapter where jeronima passes away, and I basically burst into tears. Not only is that chapter as beautifully written as the others, but my dad had passed away a only few years ago from cancer, and the way you wrote isabel and lucrezia made me think of the day he died, and i couldnt help to start to cry. Your writing is powerful, and while it brought back painful memories, I love it so much ❤️
I replied:
Oh, thank you very much! I’m very sorry about your father.
