Dec. 4th, 2019 09:13 amI'd like to be deeper, but tbh my deepest feeling about the new Emma is grumpiness that it's not P&P (or at least Persuasion or MP). We haven't had a straightforward P&P adaptation since 2005 and that was a pretty loose one. We didn't even get a proper one for the bicentennial!
I do hope it's successful on general principle and an interesting take on the novel etc etc. But Emma and S&S are my least favourites, so ... eh.
(Okay, in fairness: P&P has a bunch of adaptations and gets a LOT more attention than the other novels, so it's hardly the end of the world that one of the other novels is getting a couple of more-closely spaced adaptations. I'm just whining because P&P is my favourite.)
