anghraine: elizabeth bennet from "austen's pride," singing her half of "the portrait song" (elizabeth (the portrait song))

After all these years, probably the P&P headcanon that makes me happiest (after autistic!Darcy, because #relatable) is that Lord ___ in P&P (by deduction an earl) is the same person as the Earl of Ravenshaw in Mansfield Park.

AKA the host of Lovers' Vows 1.0, who (according to Yates) is so straitlaced that he insisted on breaking up the theatricals over the death of a grandmother. (Um. Right, you have to be super straitlaced to do that. But it does seem suggested that he has a reputation for being scrupulously correct.)

At first I selected him because a) I wanted an Austenian title for Lord ___, b) I liked the idea of welding P&P and MP, which I associate most strongly of all the Austen novels, and c) I thought Ravenshaw sounded super cool. But then, just this ... little drama-loving man as Darcy's uncle and Lady Catherine's brother? I love it. And him being so ~correct~ fits right in with Fitzwilliam and Darcy.

I can't see adult Darcy caring to participate in theatricals of the Lovers' Vows kind, but Elizabeth? Sure! I love the idea of Elizabeth bonding with Lord Ravenshaw over melodramatic plays. ALL IS FORGIVEN, WE HAVE AN AMELIA.
