So, I've been updating my AO3 account with my ... well, not all my old stories, but the ones I'm not actively ashamed of. One, which I've been meaning to revise for months, took the longest -- about five hours, I think. I've got this teensy weakness for new shiny accounts, and lj and dw (and AO3!) are the only things I've really stuck with for any length of time. Seriously, I've been tracking down different versions of different stories at about seven or eight different places. I don't even remember posting half of them.

On the upside, that gives me at least two places where I'm comfortable, and I'm retreating from most of the others. Even Austen fandom -- I stuck with it for a long time, but I've fit in less and less well over the years, and most of the discussions I'm interested in happen elsewhere anyway. Also, it's at once very demanding and very isolated, and I love textual interplay. Um, I don't know what the phrase for that actually is, but it's the way that, I don't know, different fannish sources are brought together, often in the context of a single fandom. Then, of course, there's all the multifandom stuff -- everything from metafandom to TV Tropes to ... well, you know. That stuff.

So, yes. I kind of hate lj, but I'm also really glad I've stuck with it and, now, dw -- they're places I'm comfortable with, where I interact with people I'm comfortable with, and so I also love them too. Even the greater feedback I got in Austen fandom proper isn't much of a lure at this point; occasionally there'll be these awesome discussions, but more often it's -- I don't even know. Not something I'm really suited to any more.

Incidental note: I just checked the Fanhistory page for Austen fandom, and the only thing listed under 'meta' is one of my own lj posts. And it's not ... I mean, I've definitely written Austen meta, but that one's more ... it's just this random collection of things that occurred to me as I worked on First Impressions. I don't even know why it's there, or why something else isn't. I'm not exactly a BNF), even for Austen fandom -- especially not these days, with a hundred-odd half-finished stories, most of which I have no interest in finishing, and no real fandom presence. But even if I were, that particular post still doesn't make sense as a representative sample of Austen meta.

I don't know. It's weird.

Day 12: What is your favourite non-human species or race?

I -- don't know. Let me think. I dislike Ewoks and Gungans. I like Chewie, but I don't particularly love Wookiees in general. (I blame the Holiday Special.) There are a lot of cool aliens, but I don't particularly like them as species.

Umm ... Twi'leks, I guess. They're kind of cool-looking.

Day 13: What is the most memorable death?

Anakin Skywalker's, of course.

*sob*

Day 14: What is your favourite EU novel?

I'm not sure I've got through any of them. They make me cry inside. :(

Day 15: What is your favourite vehicle?

The Executor. Heh.
