In a weird way, it’s easier for me to imagine a long-term relationship than a short-term one? I can’t see either of them doing anything casually, and I feel like they wouldn’t be able to get into a relationship at all until Kuvira has done a LOT of work on herself.
I do think it would be important to—hmm. One of the things I really love about B4 is the extent to which Kuvira is dark!Korra, and Korra taking compassion on her == taking compassion on herself, to the point of literally hallucinating Kuvira as her past self. But that would have to change for an actual relationship, even though they’ll always be temperamentally similar. I mean, being in a relationship with someone who sees you as ‘like me, but worse’ is not a recipe for success! I think being able to relate so strongly to each other is important to keep, but they would have to ultimately move past the ‘dark me’ element for the relationship to succeed. (This is not always the case, but IMO would be for them.)
I’ve been thinking about it in (the admittedly difficult) canon terms, but I think that would be the case for most AU scenarios, too (like the Rearrangement AU or Republic City AU or Kuvira-is-what-she-seems AU or final boss Amon AU or…).
THAT SAID, I do think they could “make it” long-term (*cough*foreverrrrr) as far as their essential characters go. It’d just take some work (how much depends on the scenario) and development.
#not all hero/villain ships need to be healthy but i think they could be!! #...eventually #aakdjf; i wish i had more time/energy so i could write one of the many aus in my head
