Today’s Twitter fanfic discourse is … something.

[ETA 4/12/2024: lmao, I am almost certain this was in reference to one of RSB's periodic tantrums over it that percolated through SF/F Twitter circles and pissed a wide variety of people off. I think I actually caught wind of it via John Scalzi of all people, who was like "as the author of Fuzzy Nation, I can't judge fanfic writers."]

Who was RSB?

Raquel S. Benedict, who went by RS Benedict for awhile. RSB is a sort of remarkable bad takes generator ranging from attacking Ursula Vernon over the 2023 Hugos to trying to make "squeecore" happen to the extremely flawed but viral "Everyone Is Beautiful and No One Is Horny" article (or something to that effect) to repeated arguments about how fanfic is a great social evil.

Huh. Never heard of her. Is she on Tumblr? If she was sufficiently annoying, I may have blocked her or been blocked by her.

I don't know about Tumblr (certainly not in my own social circle), but she had some mixture of clout and notoriety on Twitter (or used to be) and is attempting to continue her shtick on Bluesky, which is much less friendlier to it. She also has a podcast. I've actually mentioned her before and you also said then that you hadn't heard of her, so you may just be wisely erasing her takes from your mind, lol.

Hmmm. I didn't bother with Twitter, and I'm not on Bluesky.
So you told me who someone I never heard of was, and then I continued to not hear of them or see anything by them, and forgot them. Hazards of age and lack of notability.
