I’m thinking about it and tbh—if we’re looking at Elizabeth/Darcy specifically, P&P doesn’t always map well onto some things, and I think this might be one of them.

(The boring answer, I know.)

There are plenty of characters who are fierce and spirited like Elizabeth, but I don’t think many who are that and temperamentally light-hearted, while also fundamentally serious. Aang combines easy-going high spirits and strength of character, so he’s probably closest. Still, he’s a very different (esp gentler and, critically, humbler) personality. He’s more like a stronger Bingley.

I’m not sure anything epitomizes my fic writer experience so much as the stats on my last two fics:

Austen: shipping poll ???

When I was sick(er), I posted a Tumblr poll asking people to choose between a bunch of Darcy/not Elizabeth pairings (ten, specifically). I deliberately excluded Darcy/Bingley (both specifically and by not listing an "Other" option) because it's a hard NOTP for me ... and inevitably, I keep getting comments about Darcy/Bingley not being on the poll. Just deserts, I guess? My favorite one is the person who seemed very offended that I included cousin incest!!! (Darcy/Fitzwilliam) but not Darcy/Bingley. (Lalala what canon cousin incest in this fandom, I guess.)

Also, multiple people are very dismayed that Darcy/Emma is doing really well in the poll (I'm not sure how well, but it seems to be near the top of the running currently). It would be unhealthy, see. Unwise. That is certainly not part of its appeal and not something people are ever drawn towards in general. /shoves a third of my ships under a rug
