anghraineOh look, another acewank. Fail on both sides this time, hurrah, and the strangely inevitable discussions with non-asexuals taking it upon themselves to define asexuality for reals, and some aces rushing in to cry 'but we're not the bad ones!' while others try to take epic levels in douchebaggery, and something about how how non-asexual people are really just like demis. Apparently, non-asexual people customarily feel no sexual attraction whatsoever until they're well into a relationship. Uh, the more you know, I guess.
There's a cool-looking fic meme (that maybe two people will respond to, heh), but... I actually need to write, so I'm not going to do it yet. However, gdocs is down, so I'll do another with a clear conscience.

Hm, is that fanfics I've written, or fanfics I've posted? Ehh, I'll go with the former, but omit Lucy and Revenge for the obvious reasons. Also, these are in no particular order.
(25) Luke lifted his head, sensing Leia in the Ewok village, Vader in his ship (my sister, my father) -- for the first time in over twenty years, he could feel his family all around him; it was a strange and dangerous comfort.
(24) “It’s all right,” said Luke, looking uncomfortable.
(23) “He wasn’t himself,” Padmé argued, touching her throat.
(22) It felt like years since Padmé had been inside the Coruscant Temple.
(21) Leia knew she was pregnant long before she felt the baby move.
(20) “Want to see!” Jack Fitzwilliam declared, stretching as far as his two-year-old body would allow, and almost tumbled from his mother’s arms.
(19) Nothing could make Leia regret the knowledge that her blood flowed in Luke's veins, but when he left to find his father, Vader's son became Vader's daughter and she felt as if the very breath were being crushed out of her lungs.

Um ... it looks like I pretty much hit the ground running, fic-wise. There's not much in the way of introduction -- just, 'here we are, let's go.' (I do this with my original fic, too. *sigh*)
Asexuality meme
Day 24: Write something or post a picture about asexuality that upsets you.
Oh, hurrah.
Let's see, there's everything graftversushost has said about asexuality, ever (no, I'm not linking to their tumblr), the occasional fail at ontd_feminism and sf_drama, the weird conflation of pathologizing and ableism, concern trolling, overriding my identity as asexual (newsflash: aromantic =/= straight), erasure, blah blah blah. All the usual bingo stuff.
The thing that probably upset me the most, however, was a conversation at AVEN. It was a couple years ago, now, but despite my gratitude for "wait, I'm not a freak??" it's what made me back away from that site very slowly. An asexual man married to a non-asexual woman asked for advice; he was repulsed, iirc, and he'd woken to find his wife having sex with him. He loved her but felt extremely upset, and guilty, too -- and just about everybody defended the wife and told him that asexuals who chose to marry non-asexuals owed their partners sex, so it was really his own fault or something. There's not enough wtf in the world.

Day 24: Betaing - how many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a beta horror story or dream story?
For a lot of them, I haven't used any. These days, hl and tulina and I generally read each other's; sometimes they get a full-throttle beta, too, but I don't. It seems to work out all right.
