I’m curious if it’s a translation thing, but there’s a point at which Ovid describes Minerva as ‘blond’ and my entire mental image was just ‘wait, what?’
I mean, why would Ovid have the cultural associations I do with like... clever warlike women being brunettes, because blonds are pretty and frivolous, which I suspect is probably at the root of why our Minervas are brunette? But still, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I wasn't sure if there was some subtlety of usage I was missing by not reading Latin or just the cultural tropes were really different or it was Ovid's own personal idea.
