Yet another SW picspam + meme

So apparently I will never run out of these (eta: holy crap there were a lot of them). And I'm gearing up for my essay on the eighteenth-century sublime as a tool of masculine domination (we were supposed to use Northanger Abbey but I got the okay to use Sanditon instead) and a final for my Bible-as-literature class and a revision/four-page-explanation of revision, so.
I wonder if anybody can guess my favourite character. *whistling*

What I know about British healthcare could fit on Rick Perry's tax plan, but this ad is a thing of beauty.

CANNOT UNSEE

It's not easy being green.

... or being Luke Skywalker.

Tiny picture is tiny, but it's so shiny that I grabbed it.

Undoubtedly a troll, but I laughed.

It's the small joys. :D

My favourite poster ever. I love that it focuses on Luke and Leia, who are the central characters in ANH even more than the rest of the trilogy (which overwhelmingly follows them), that they're actually wearing the (...colour-coordinated) clothes they wore and look basically like they did. The overall style is gorgeous, too.

I love many things about this, but perhaps nothing more than the random hand sneaking a lightsaber into her houseplant.

So I love pretty much everything about this too, but especially the angle and colouring.

*glee*

I guess this is the vision in the cave? Whatever, it's awesome.

*whistles*

Leia, princess of Alderaan.

Jedi!
(Do I realize this is PT art? Yes. Do I care? Nope!)

Really odd colouring -- Leia's, I mean -- but I like it.

Leia!

Luke and Anakin!
Come on, you three, just sit down and have tea and adopt bunnies while the suns vomit rainbows. I just want everyone to get along!
(Except Palpatine. DIE IN A FIRE.An actual fire would be best, but bottomless abysses will do in a pinch.)

... okay, orange juice and eggs are an acceptable substitute for tea.
(deep in my soul, I want to see this actually happen. Deeper still, I want it to be not-crack.)

Leia and Luke coming to terms with their relationship as adult siblings -- and the only Jedi left in the galaxy. Yup, somebody else imagined Leia becoming a Jedi shortly after ROTJ.
(Yeah, I don't see her going back to politics after she's clearly left it in ROTJ. I can see her catching up with Luke in a few months and the three of them going about the galaxy being independently awesome and Luke and Leia founding the new Order.)

Skywalkers & Family.

Vader's Dream, about as deeply symbolic as you might expect. I especially like this version of the Dark Side just because it's so bizarre, and the weird glow that I'm guessing is either his spirit or the Force or some combination thereof, and -- and --
;_;

okay, so this is perfect

Tanake Trang, by thienbao at devianart. I just thought this was cool.

Luke, Han, and Leia, only slightly idealized.

I don't remember that shirt. It looks like the ROTJ one but this is obviously before the accident ... maybe the celebration outfit?

Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, aka Leia and Luke. I've thought this picture was gorgeous ever since I saw it on an icon (...which I promptly grabbed), but I just managed to find the full-size version. <3 <3 <3

Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. They look nice, but it's hard to notice anything except Mark's sweater. He seems to have had a vast collection of godawful shirts.

...
I rest my case.

Carrie, Harrison, and Mark. Practising group hugs?

Mark and Carrie.

And again!

David Prowse, Peter Cushing and Mark Hamill. Hanging out.

Another cast picture

Is it just me, or does Carrie seem about ten times more comfortable than anyone else?

Harrison, Carrie, and Mark

Slaves of the Empire? Did I miss that movie?

Mark/Luke

Just in case anybody forgot. :P

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Couldn't resist. :P

Never much liked the waterfalls, but this looks nice. (Also, I included this for
sathari . :D)

Shmi's death. :(

The announcement of Padmé's pregnancy.

I can't help shipping them even though I hate almost all their scenes together. IDK. (But not this one. This one is adorable.)

:D :D :D :D :D

Baby Luke and Leia!

Luke playing with a model starship.

Luke.

This scene is epic even without the suns.

But more epic with them.

I've said it before and I will say it again: I forgive George Lucas everything for putting this character on my screen.
So, I think The Skywalker Paradigm is sort of silly and annoying, but these three amused me:

Those coincidences!

lol!

ahahahahaha

Luke, sweetie, it doesn't matter how badass you become. Ponchos will never look cool on anybody.
Incidentally, this is one of the few times that Mark Hamill-as-Luke actually looks vaguely like Mark Hamill-as-Mark Hamill. Even in ANH, before the face-crushing accident, his face manages to keep changing. GUYS MARK HAMILL IS A METAMORPHMAGUS.
(Headcanon: Luke clearly missed his calling in undercover work. Or he didn't.)

Tarkin has a cunning plan.

Luke in his flight uniform, sadfacing. Or possibly terrorfacing.

Luke in stormtrooper armour.

Is it just me, or does the first one look like a commercial? I keep expecting to hear him say "... I'm in a battle station."

I'm pretty sure there's a TV Tropes page for this.
Yup.

Han's reaction? Amusing. Luke's reaction to his reaction? Priceless.

The escape from the Death Star! (And the only space battle that I didn't find kind of boring. Well, okay, and the spacey parts of the Battle of Hoth, but the Battle of Hoth is epic. And it had not-in-space parts!)

In the Falcon

So I've read horrified reviews from 1977 talking about Leia's 'plunging neckline,' but you know, hers wasn't really the one they needed to be worried about.

This is the face of a badass.

Victory hugs!

omg
I don't know whether they make me happier as bffs
or if, for one shining moment, they were the most fabulous ot3 ever
but either way this is wonderful

Um. Awkward?

NO. NO, IT ISN'T. KNOWING WOULD BE A REALLY GOOD THING ABOUT NOW, ACTUALLY.
(But I'll admit, I lol'd.)

so. this is a thing that actually exists in the world.
I just, I don't, this thing. It's so over the top that I have to love it. Luke is being all tragically longing and Leia is ~torn between two lovers~ but actually seems perfectly happy with the situation and Han is keeping Luke away from her by ... slipping his fingers beneath Luke's coat? Uh, Han? Pushing people away does not generally involve sticking your hand down their clothes!
I don't even.
(My description of this picture on Scrapbook: "what.")

Behind the scenes photo -- what's his name taking the plaster off Mark Hamill's face.

Luke in Dagobah.

Still in Dagobah.

Flawless expression is flawless.

And, as a gif!

Luke entering the Dark Side cave. Is it just me, or does he have really big eyes? He and Leia both, actually, but I think his might be even bigger.
Star Wars illustrated à la ATLA: needs to happen.

Well, she doesn't look disconcerted at all! Does anybody in this galaxy manage to express interest in a woman without making her visibly uncomfortable?

I picked these up when I ran across someone arguing that Luke and Leia's responses to trauma and stuff are always completely dissimilar.
(I love both shots, but Leia's is amazing. Just, wow.)

Luke in the carbon-freezing chamber.

Luke climbing something.

Even pre-production is epic.

Luke is not impressed.

Luke, slightly more concerned.

lololololol

Heeeeeeh.
Vader is actually a better father than mine.

Luke and Leia in the escape from Cloud City -- maybe it's the black and white, but there's something incredibly evocative about this for me, like the similar one of Luke in the carbon-freezing chamber.

You see, The Empire Strikes Back just didn't rend our hearts quite enough, so after all the drama and death and despair they added the twins exchanging the most loldorable smiles seen by human eyes.

And here they are, not smiling.

This pretty neatly encapsulates them. Leia, not content to side-eye other characters, is side-eyeing the camera, and Luke is this sweet heroic guy in white going "let's all be frien -- THREATEN MY SISTER AND I WILL DESTROY YOU."

Whatever else I might say about this sequence, I like that she makes it quite clear that she is NOT OKAY with it. She looks miserable and pissed off, which are exactly the emotions you'd expect her to feel.

Luke, catching his lightsaber and about to crush everything in his path. It's the Skywalker way.
And here's the whole moment:

Also the Skywalker way: swinging over bottomless abysses.

Otherwise known as "who's lying to us at the moment."

Chewie, Han, and Leia at the Rebellion briefing, clearly too hip for this. They were fighting stormtroopers before it was mainstream.

I'm torn between "yeah, whatever, Anakin" and "STFU PALPATINE."

Luke in ROTJ.
k
I've seen this all over, but it still makes me giggle.
Also: Vader's utility belt borders on Inspector Gadget-worthy.
... da da da da da da Inspector Gadget da da da da da something something GO GADGET GO. (You're welcome.)

Mark completely losing it. Given his dialogue in that scene, I can't blame him. (Blasphemy, I know, and I don't think it's on the level of the Anakin and Padmé balcony scene or anything, but really.)

I love this moment, even if I am somewhat bemused that Leia put on full makeup.
(It's battle eyeliner.)
I wonder if anybody can guess my favourite character. *whistling*
