I've never really been into memes, but I stumbled across this at
sixbeforelunch 's dw, and thought "huh, why not?" So - yeah, here goes:
six pairings I love:
(1) Darcy/Elizabeth, Pride and Prejudice (book only)
(2) Booth/Brennan, Bones
(3) Anne/Gilbert, Anne of Green Gables
(4) Cor/Aravis, Narnia
(5) Harry/Luna, Harry Potter
(6) Eric/Ariel, The Little Mermaid
three pairings I like:
(7) William the Conqueror/Matilda of Flanders, RL
(8) Colonel Fitzwilliam/Mary Crawford, Pride and Prejudice/Mansfield Park
(9) James/Lily, Harry Potter
three pairings I never liked:
(10) Ginny/Harry, Harry Potter
(11) Marianne/Brandon, Sense and Sensibility
(12) Georgiana/Colonel Fitzwilliam, Pride and Prejudice
two pairings that piqued my interest:
(13) Mary Lennox/Colin Craven, The Secret Garden
(14) Georgiana/the earl's heir, Pride and Prejudice
1. Why do you dislike #11 (Marianne/Brandon)?
Where to start. I dislike that she's pressured into marrying him because she's his prize, that they never exchange a single word during the course of the entire novel, and that she only manages to be happy with that life by giving up both her dreams and her personality - however annoying that personality may be - at nineteen years old. *twitch*
2. Who do you know that ships #9 (James/Lily)?
Um - I expect most of the fandom except the Snapefen? I'm not sure I know anybody who's into it in particular, though.
3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3 (Anne/Gilbert)?
CANON. Well, with professional writer!Anne.
4. What is your favorite moment for #1 (Darcy/Elizabeth)?
AHAHAHAHAH. Um. Well. I don't suppose the whole book is allowed? No, didn't think so. Um, well...
Probably this: for herself, she was humbled; but she was proud of him. It'd be squeeworthy anyway, but given the enormous significance of pride in their relationship and the book as a whole? OMG SO MUCH.
5. How long have you been following couple #6 (Eric/Ariel)?
Hee! Since I was three years old. No, seriously. They're the first couple I ever loved and I loved them MADLY. I had Eric-and-Ariel sheets and Barbie dolls and clothes and FANART. Yes, seriously, I drew pictures of them for about four years. My mother still keeps them on her fridge.
6. What's the story with #8 (Fitzwilliam/Mary)? Why just, like?
I do really like them, but really any halfway decent, yet ambitious partner would do for either. It is a nice fit, though. *admires*
7. Which ship do you prefer--#2 (Booth/Brennan) or #4 (Cor/Aravis)?
Oh! Ack! Unfair!
*vacillates*
Booth/Brennan, probably. Well, Cor and Aravis are awesome . . . but yeah, it pretty much goes from quarrelling preadolescents to "and afterwards they grew up and got married (...becoming one of the first interracial couples in children's lit despite the painful racism of this book)." It's more about their separate awesomeness than their relationship (though I do love it! just, y'know, preadolescents).
8. You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 (Ginny/Harry) or #12 (Georgiana/Fitzwilliam)
Georgiana/Fitzwilliam, without question. He. is. her. legal. guardian. And if she looks up to her other, younger guardian as "almost a father," what does that make him? OMG, just so much squick.
9. What interests you about #14 (Georgiana/Lord ???)?
I think, if Georgiana were to marry at all, she'd do well with somebody she'd known and trusted all her life, but not overwhelming. And not in a position of authority over her. And since the colonel seems closer to Darcy than his brother, I imagine him as ... well, rather bland. But in a nice way, which I think would do very well for her.
I did consider James Morland, but I think this would be better for her.
Lady Catherine's choice of baby!Darcy over a future earl, even though the Darcys aren't that rich (average aristocratic), leads me to believe that they've got some serious social cachet in their own right - and that without the Darcy/Anne marriage to consolidate Fitzwilliam connections and Fitzwilliam money, they would be very very happy at another Darcy-Fitzwilliam match. (And effectively getting Lady Anne's dowry back couldn't hurt.) And I think making everybody happy by staying with those who know and love (...and are related to) her would be a very good thing for Georgiana. At the same time, however, as the earl's daughter-in-law and later a countess, her position (unlike that of a clergyman's wife) would require her to mix with the world a bit more, which - with Darcy-Elizabeth's able support and guidance - would, IMO, also be good for her.

10. What's a song that reminds you of #1 (Darcy/Elizabeth)?
Sweet Caroline. Ironically.
13. Which of these ships do you love the most right now?
Darcy/Elizabeth. Without question, because this is the one where I love the characters more than pretty much anybody else, and their relationship. So it's pretty much nonstop win.
14. Which do you dislike the most?
In terms of writing, Ginny/Harry. In terms of OMG SQUICK, Georgiana/Fitzwilliam.
15. If you could have any of these pairings double date, who would they be?
Hm. Probably modern!Darcy/Elizabeth (in academia!!) with Booth and Brennan. heeeeeeeeeeeh.
16. Have #2 (Booth/Brennan) kissed yet? Elaborate if yes.
Yes. But no. Well, yes, but it was mistletoe and part of an exchange with a voyeuristicfangirl lawyer to get a family Christmas for her father. So it's not quite, y'know, the same. (Though lolarious still.)
17. Did #4 (Cor/Aravis) have a happy ending, or is one likely?
OH yeah. King and Queen of Archenland isn't too sloppy. (Unhappy endings don't make in onto my favourite list, seriously.)
18. What would make you start shipping #14 (Georgiana/the earl's heir)?
Somebody writing it, taking into account the reasons it interests me in the first place. And without the dread Viscount Stu.
19. If only one could happen, which would you prefer--#7 (William/Matilda) or #13 (Mary/Colin)?
William/Matilda. 'Cause, you know, the fabric of history and all that.
20. You have the power to decide the fate of #5 (Harry/Luna). What happens to them?
They get together after Hogwarts, balance each other's tendency to the batshit insane, get married, have a girl named Irene, and adopt Dudley's magical offspring.
