#yes semi-joking ott negativity is a staple of a certain kind of video #but for one it's a pretty outdated genre #and for another it's just kind of relentlessly obnoxious #i watch exactly one person lol

I replied:

I watch Tim Hickson/HelloFutureMe! His channel is a mix of analysis (some of which I profoundly disagree with, but by and large that’s fine), criticism, and writing advice (mostly from a SF/F angle). It’s definitely … hmmm, evolved over time, but I enjoy it and it usually makes me want to write more rather than less, which is my main metric of success :)

Yeahhhhh. Even when they’re not super negative, they’re super authoritative in a way that I find really grating (all the more because there’s often some tacked-on “but follow your vision!!” at the end).

I think this was for a meme I posted back in … December (eep!), so … hm. I really love Moiraine, but I also haven’t read the books in a really long time, so I might have the specifics wrong.

1. Sexuality Headcanon: In my heart, grey-ace (like nearly all of my faves), but canonically speaking, bi.

2. OTP: No one, really? But Moiraine/Siuan is cool. 

3. BROTP: I’m not quite sure—I really like Moiraine individually, but less in actual relation to other characters except Siuan. I do have Moiraine+Elayne vague feelings, though!

4. NOTP: Moiraine/Thom. I would scrub all trace of it from all of the books if I could. D:

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: I honestly can’t remember how much is canon or not, especially because New Spring was so satisfying for me. I do imagine that she had very complicated feelings about Elayne, though.

6. Favorite line from this character: probably the same one I dug up for this post: Before I let the Dark One have you, I will destroy you myself.

7. One way in which I relate to this character: the extent to which Moiraine sticks to her choices once she makes them! She picks her path and follows it with a steely determination that I appreciate. I’m not that way as much as her, but I am very stubborn.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment: Thom. She’s too good for him!

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: Neither. Moiraine transcends simple binaries!

2. OTP: You know, I don’t really have one at this point? I sort of ship Han/Leia, in the sense that Harrison and Carrie sold it really well, but I have too many reservations about his conduct in ESB to really consider it a OTP. OTOH, interpreting ‘OTP’ broadly, I really like Luke/Han/Leia. 

3. BROTP: Luke, of course, and not only in the literal sense! I just … love them together so much.

4. NOTP: Honestly, most Leia ships. But I once stumbled over Vader/Leia from the pre-ROTJ days and was like AGHHHHH BRAIN BLEACH STAT.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: I’ve never thought Leia was temperamentally suited for politics and I think she’s clearly much happier as part of the ROTJ strike team than a remote leader. I don’t imagine her as a politician after ROTJ at all (as ever, I don’t care about the SWEU).

6. Favorite line from this character: lol, I genuinely don’t know! I do love “Only you could be so bold” as if she herself isn’t being that bold at that exact moment. 

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I don’t shrug off obstacles quite the way Leia does, but I do relate a lot to the strength of her convictions and frustration with those who don’t share them. She’s stronger than I am, though!

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: slave Leia. It’s not embarrassment in the sense that she’s embarrassed or doing anything embarrassing, but the whole treatment of her with that is cringe-worthy (killing Jabba ameliorates but does not negate this).

2. OTP: Anakin/Padmé, though it’s kind of … less that I like the actual writing of it and more that it’s such a Fact to me that I can’t see them any other way.

3. BROTP: Does Anakin and Luke count? That’s the Anakin relationship I actually care the most about. 

4. NOTP: Anakin/Obi-Wan. Teacher/student is a pretty big squick for me (all the more since I got into grad school >_>). I don’t mind it existing or anything, it’s just Not For Me.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: Anakin was genuinely created by the Force and is not quite human, though most people don’t realize this.

6. Favorite line from this character: okay, that’s super hard to choose. There are a lot that are just super entertaining, a lot that are interesting character-wise, a lot that are super touching. Probably in terms of evoking the most ~feeling from me, “I am your father” (for multiple reasons) or “Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes” (T_T).

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I, too, am a super intense person who has devolved into just kind of tired.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: AOTC.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: problematic fave, despite certain parts of the fandom’s attempts to make him into… not that. And I love him for it :D

1. Sexuality Headcanon: confused lesbian! I mean, she could be bi and my OTP could work, but she just reads as very gay to me.

2. OTP: *chants* Korvira Korvira Korvira Korvira

3. BROTP: I don’t really have one, though I do have feelings about Kuvira’s relationship with Su. 

4. NOTP: Baatar/Kuvira. Even before I shipped Korvira, I thought it seemed weirdly … off. These days, it is my conviction that Kuvira’s interest is pretty much confined to his usefulness, the remnants of friendship, and, subconsciously, the feeling that he’d make her Su’s daughter For Real.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: This is an old one, but I imagined back in the day that “Kuvira” wasn’t actually her birth name, but one that Su helped her choose for herself.

6. Favorite line from this character: “Never.”

7. One way in which I relate to this character: It’s silly, but: eyebrows! Mine are also quite strong.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: the really weird episode with the camps. Why on earth is she recruiting random people and also putting random people away for no reason??? (I mean, to give Bolin a heroic episode, but …)

#on the one hand: it looks super cool and helpful #otoh: it's fifty dollars and just had its last update as they transition to campfire blaze #though apparently there's some degree of integration and you get free stuff in blaze if you already have pro #otoh: i don't get paid until the 10th #but it's a one-time payment and not a subscription #otoh: it might be more of a procrastination device than actually helpful #it'd be nice to have something to do to break up studying though #>>>this is my decision making process for everything #'decision' is probably putting it strongly

I think it’s the first fic I wrote in SW fandom a longgg time ago now (I was an undergrad and now I’m in my fourth year as a PhD student, lol), so I’m really glad to hear that people are enjoying it even now! <3

I don’t remember which meme this was for, but let’s go with Luke for the current one!

1. Sexuality Headcanon: asexual!

2. OTP: Luke/Han/Leia when I ship him at all.

3. BROTP: Luke and Leia or (in a different way) Luke and Anakin. SKYWALKERS <3

4. NOTP: literally anything apart from #2.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: Luke learned Shmi’s native language from Beru as a child and is fluent in it (if with Beru’s accent), but after Owen and Beru died, he thought (wrongly) that he’d never talk to anyone else in it again.

6. Favorite line from this character: probably “Father, I won’t leave you!” T_T

7. One way in which I relate to this character: Not a lot, honestly? I love him, but we’re quite different. Hah, I guess we both have demeanors that read as Soft™ irl but … we aren’t, really. 

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: Also not a lot. His imperfections are part of why I like him so much! I guess the NOOooooOOO in ESB, though it’s understandable.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?: Not quite a problematic fave, but definitely not a cinnamon roll, fandom takes notwithstanding.
