1. Sexuality Headcanon: Hmmm. It’s hard to say. I don’t see him as a particularly sexual person at all, though not completely asexual. Maybe grey-ace pan?

2. OTP: I don’t have one! I really like him, but not in a shippy way, which has made The Discourse™ very strange.

3. BROTP: Ben and Leia :(

4. NOTP: Kylux. Nothing against those who ship it, but Hux taints everything for me.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: he is a Force-ghost, but too consumed with angst and confusion to actually appear to anyone.

6. Favorite line from this character: I’m not sure I have one? I did like the one about how Hux’s men are skilled at treason :P

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I hold extremely long resentments at very high intensity.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: nothing makes me feel embarrassment as such.

3. BROTP: I’m really intrigued by Ancalimë’s relationships with both her parents, but I wouldn’t call those BROTPs.

4. NOTP: Ancalimë/her husband, but I’m pretty sure it’s also Ancalimë’s NOTP, so

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: Hmmm, I don’t have a lot. I do imagine that her neglect of Aldarion’s policies led to some restoration of the forests and land in Númenórean colonies over her reign (and that this pleased her in a remote way).

6. Favorite line from this character: there are more lines about her than from her, and of those, I love this one: But she did not refuse the Heirship, and determined that when her day came she would be a powerful Ruling Queen; and when so, to live where and how she pleased. :D

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I reallyyyy hate being pressured and cornered into things.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: nothing, really, though terrorizing her granddaughters into refusing the Heirship is really weird.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: Mm, definitely not a cinnamon roll, but I don’t think she’s more problematic than Númenóreans generally (and certainly less so than Aldarion). I’ll go with neither.

what do you think about the practice of self publishing p&p fanfic on amazon? It just seems so wrong to me. And a lot of it looks... not very good at all

I replied:

Hmm, I don’t think it’s wrong, as such—in a moral or artistic sense. There’s a long tradition of people writing and publishing alternate versions or sequels of pre-existing stories. (Full disclosure: I did it myself as an undergrad!)

But I’ll admit that there is something about the way it’s done these days that kind of rubs me the wrong way, and the style (from what I can tell) is not to my personal taste at all. I don’t like the industry of it. So … basically my feelings are pretty messy but more negative than not, even while I don’t think it’s wrong.

Another old one, but anyway:

1. Sexuality Headcanon: these days, ace!

2. OTP: It used to be Finn/Rey, but canon ended up giving me more of a platonic vibe, I warmed up to Finn/Poe, and the Finn/Rey fandom soured me, so … nothing, really. I could go for Rey/Finn/Poe, but it’s hardly a OT3.

3. BROTP: Finn and Rey! They’re adorable together.

4. NOTP: weirdly, none come to mind? I ultimately find Reylo pretty boring, but I don’t mind it, so I wouldn’t call it a NOTP. Uh, what else … oh wait, I’ve seen Rey/Luke and Rey/Leia, and I’m a strong nooooope about those.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: nothing really does tbh.

6. Favorite line from this character: idk, I’d have to rewatch the ST. A lot of what I like from her is pretty nonverbal.

7. One way in which I relate to this character: it’s early!Rey, but I tend to wait for my family and friends to act.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: “Rey Skywalker.” She has ties to some of the Skywalkers (understood broadly), but I don’t think she’s anything like a family member, so it’s just kind of cringe for me.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?: She verges on cinnamon roll at times, but not at all times, so … neither.

I reblogged a gifset that paired Leia and Luke's sequence of judging Han, yelling at him, then believing in him (their lines following these really are strikingly similar IMO). I added:

I nobly spent most of today advancing the dissertation chapter I'm working on to 10 pages rather than praying to Mystra to kill suffering hyenas for Gale approval points. Ugh.
