For my headcanon anon: Darcy and the Darcy/non-Fitzwilliam connections that he’s closest to in my headcanon!

Short version: apart from Georgiana, these are Lady Auckland, Thomas Stanley, Lord Carrington, and Cassandra Darcy.

So I was trying to go to sleep the other night and decided to vanity search myself at an Austen site I used to frequent (not sure why I thought this would help). But it was weirdly entertaining. Things that turned up:
  • someone annoyed five years ago that I had stopped updating a fic (and the previous version of the fic, at that). I still haven’t updated it.
  • someone who really liked my grey-ace!Darcy fic and someone else who thought it “implausible” even if he were ace
  • someone who thought I’m no longer around because I stopped updating my livejournal
  • someone who thought I’d written an epic about my NOTP; I’d seen this one before, but not the response explaining that I didn’t write it, but am friends with the author (I do not know the author)
  • someone thanking me by name (well, username) for a minor anonymous criticism I had made many years before
  • someone I’ve always liked and admired complimenting my old headcanons :)

An anon asked:

character meme: kylo ren

I replied:

A controversial one! But let’s go :D

1. Sexuality Headcanon: Hmmm. It’s hard to say. I don’t see him as a particularly sexual person at all, though not completely asexual. Maybe grey-ace pan?

2. OTP: I don’t have one! I really like him, but not in a shippy way, which has made The Discourse™ very strange.

3. BROTP: Ben and Leia :(

4. NOTP: Kylux. Nothing against those who ship it, but Hux taints everything for me.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: he is a Force-ghost, but too consumed with angst and confusion to actually appear to anyone.

6. Favorite line from this character: I’m not sure I have one? I did like the one about how Hux’s men are skilled at treason :P

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I hold extremely long resentments at very high intensity.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: nothing makes me feel embarrassment as such.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: lol

Character Meme: Anakin?

I replied:

1. Sexuality headcanon: and now I do get a grey-ace fave! Padmésexual!Anakin is canon to me, lol.

2. OTP: Anakin/Padmé, though it’s kind of … less that I like the actual writing of it and more that it’s such a Fact to me that I can’t see them any other way.

3. BROTP: Does Anakin and Luke count? That’s the Anakin relationship I actually care the most about.

4. NOTP: Anakin/Obi-Wan. Teacher/student is a pretty big squick for me (all the more since I got into grad school >_>). I don’t mind it existing or anything, it’s just Not For Me.

5. First headcanon that pops into my head: Anakin was genuinely created by the Force and is not quite human, though most people don’t realize this.

6. Favorite line from this character: okay, that’s super hard to choose. There are a lot that are just super entertaining, a lot that are interesting character-wise, a lot that are super touching. Probably in terms of evoking the most ~feeling from me, “I am your father” (for multiple reasons) or “Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes” (T_T).

7. One way in which I relate to this character: I, too, am a super intense person who has devolved into just kind of tired.

8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: AOTC.

9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: problematic fave, despite certain parts of the fandom’s attempts to make him into… not that. And I love him for it :D

An anon on Tumblr asked:

this may be a super invasive ask but i'm having some ace issues of my own. feel free to ignore. as an ace lesbian, do you feel attracted to women you post a lot like holliday grainger? or do you just think she's aesthetically beautiful, like a mountain? is it somewhere in between?

I replied:

Oh, it’s okay.

I’d say somewhere in-between. It’s definitely distinct from what I feel about attractive men (which is very much of the mountain type). But it’s not quite the same as being attracted in real life, either—less visceral and more aesthetic, in most cases.

However, I’m grey-ace for one, so I do feel actual attraction once in a blue moon, and I’m autistic for another, so positioning myself wrt other people is difficult. My experience is probably different from what most ace lesbians feel—though I expect it’s always messy.

(Of course sexuality is complicated for everyone blahblahblah but for me, the ace/lesbian line is very fuzzy, since my preference for women colours pretty much everything.)
