Academia+mental health rambles:

I’ve been dealing with a mixture of depression, anxiety, Autism Stuff™, and a bad cold (all very familiar nemeses) and … on the one hand, I’ve made some questionable choices that have inevitably caught up with me, but on the other, the head of my department(!) texted me to make sure I’m okay, which was super nice in a ‘wow, someone noticed and didn’t decide I’m too much trouble’ sort of way.

I mean, I’ve barely interacted with her in the last four years. Someone else must have noticed and contacted her about checking up on me, and I don’t know who (probably my committee chair), but … it’s comforting even though I have to Face the Music.
