I managed to get my favourite game of all time (Might and Magic VII!) working on one of the computers, and holy crap where did the day go? Also, after a year of lurking at Mark Does Stuff, I almost got up the nerve to delurk because omg they sorted non-HP characters wrong.

But really, Darcy as a Gryffindor? lolwut? I guess nothing says Gryffindor like monologues, flirting via philosphical debate, collecting books, and scheming (successfully, no less). Elizabeth, on the other hand, is totally Gryffindor, with Bingley, Lydia, and Lady Catherine, while Mr Bennet joins Darcy in Ravenclaw. Mrs Bennet edges towards Slytherin for me, though, as do Charlotte and Colonel Fitzwilliam. Jane and Georgiana are raging Hufflepuffs, of course. Anyway.

I've had an idea for a P&P fic! A new one, I mean, not one on The List. Yay! Anyway, back to the GFFA--

Title: Revenge of the Jedi (1/17)

Fanverse: Revenge of the Jedi, obviously

Blurb: Luke and Leia chat, Luke keeps his promise to Yoda, and I establish my habit of ending with lines full of Dark Portent.

This year's presidential race was looking pretty boring. I mean, I do like the president and not only because I grew up under Bush OMG, but exciting he is not, and Mitt Romney? C'mon. And I don't need to hear any speeches to know who I'm voting for, because I'd sooner cut my wrists than vote for a modern-day Republican, so I was all "meh" about it. But Bachmann's awful goes so far that even when she says things that are personally offensive to me, I can't bring myself to be offended because it's so ludicrous and I just laugh instead. It's like So Bad It's Good for politics.

Besides, I very much doubt that she can beat Obama, while Romney might have a fighting chance. So I hope she wins it on those grounds, too.

My stepfather considered registering as a Republican just to nominate her. I'll admit, I laughed, though I'm such a staunch Democrat that I suspect my brain would spontaneously explode if I tried.

Also, a(nother!) SW picspam while I'm here - I'll do the meme later this afternoon. Mostly art, this time.

This one mostly covers filler (of sorts), but I hope to actually get the next section done before another term passes. Anyway: as almost always, be warned for TV Tropes, and let's go!

Luke Skywalker, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. )

Conclusions )
anghraine: vader extending his lightsaber; text: and now for the airing of grievances! (muse)
Because every fandom needs a fantasyverse AU, and also the other kind of AU that I madly love.

The truth: as I wrote the I <3 ESB list, it struck me that Star Wars is so close to fantasy already that it could transfer to a classic Fantasyland setting pretty easily. And then the plot bunny started making out with my other favourite plot bunny and before I knew what had happened, I was trying to keep a litter of baby plot bunnies from escaping their pen. THIS IS THE STORY OF MY LIFE.

Anyway, what that actually means is I that I was completely carried away by a story idea, yet again, and scribbled down my ideas before I forgot about them, and so this is a raw unedited one-shot thing, not very good, and blah blah blah.  (Doesn't matter, it's still better than the Holiday Special. :P)

This is the next ... ten minutes, maybe? And five of those are pure exposition, so I didn't skip much.

Thank you, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

[TV Tropes warning, though only for one. I think.]

City of Heroes is not really my thing, since I've never been into superheroes or comics, and I tend to prefer strategy games to RPGs anyway (Alpha Centauri FTW!). However, they just came out with a new release and it's awesome.

Going Rogue )

Back to actual Star Wars, I've watched the next twenty-five minutes or so. Again, my running commentary turned out to be ridiculously long-winded, so (again) I tried to sum up my conclusions about what background we see in this part. Also again, TV Tropes.

Per this resolution, I'm re-watching A New Hope to try and see what the original background looked like. I've gone over about the first fifteen minutes, and jotted down every thought or question that crosses my mind as I do it. Of course that's a bit random and scattered, so here are the main points.

[Warning:  TV Tropes links!]
