I stole it from [personal profile] tree , because I want to feel accomplished despite having not written anything. (And also, I'm procrastinating on reading the second half of Mill on the Floss, which scarred me in my sensitive adolescence.)

1. we get dark, only to shine (The Borgias [2011]) (164,108 words)
Hits: 18,566

Of course, my murder/incest/coming-of-age fic. This is my legacy to the Internet.

(At least one of my readers followed from Austen fandom, and I was just "but...why?")

2. Season of Courtship (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (40,121 words)
Hits: 14,517

Aww, SoC keeps trucking along. Good on you, baby fic.

3. First Impressions (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (36,470)
Hits: 11,785

There's somebody on f_fa who apparently loathes this. I discovered it by rubbernecking at general Rule 63 wank, and stumbled over that person's reply, which was along the lines of "I ... might have been a bit harsh, you might like it, I just have elite genderswap and Austen tastes." Never read what that person actually said, and never meant to, but overall ... eh, I still wish I'd had time to finish it properly, but I'm fond of it.

4. Anomaly (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (633 words)
Hits: 7,373

One of the ones where the hits are highly disproportionate to the actual length. I'm happy it's this one, particularly since it was something I wrote in a rush one night as pure self-indulgence, and yet it gets recced (even on f_fa; hell, even on AHA, though there were vapours). I'm glad! My <1k "ok but what if your sexy alpha male fave was borderline asexual?" fic is a thing! Definitely a sharp drop from the Big Three, though.

5. Ten Facts About Harry Potter (Harry Potter) (802 words)
Hits: 6,483

Oh, huh, another "many more hits than words" one. But it's HP. I accidented into Popular Text Post purgatory by ranting about Harry Potter's canonical abilities in the middle of the night one time; it turns out that the HP fandom is still around and still very intense. So ... a ten facts fic for Slytherin!Harry, because I love the idea if not the usual execution, makes it onto the list.

6. Contradictions and Varieties (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (9,855 words)
Hits: 6,479

Buuut another Austenfic closing in. And this is also one I wouldn't really have expected. It's not really a "strong" AU in my view—I think the first part was actually for a prompt at Firthness, and then I was like "oh yeah, it'd be fun to finish that. Relaxing fluff!" And that's, well, exactly what it is. The Mr Bennet scenes were probably my favourite.

7. But Thou Didst Not Leave His Soul In Hell (Star Wars) (841 words)
Hits: 6,447

It's a bit surreal that all of my SW fic, this is my most popular (iirc, it remains so regardless of what I sort by). It's an AU version of Luke and Vader's conversation on the Death Star, where Vader does agree to leave with him, and they escape to go fight crime on Tatooine while Palpatine still gets blown to smithereens. It also sort of spawned The Guiding Winds 'verse by the magnificent and significantly more disciplined [personal profile] fialleril, which has its origins in a what-happened-next fic she wrote as a birthday present for my 29th.

(The time is from Handel's Messiah—at the time, I wrote a bunch of one-shot SW fics as part of a ... not a series, but a sort of collective, all which titles taken from The Messiah.)

8. Ten Facts ... About Pride and Prejudice (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (951 words)
Hits: 6,235

This one comes from the fannish phase I think of as Late Austen; the issues I had with the fandom got progressively more difficult to take, and by 2009 I was burning out. This one's from 2010, with my headcanons at last firmly settled, and my general mood melancholy when not outright somber.

9. The Letters of Elizabeth Darcy (1796-1798) (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (2,162 words)
Hits: 5,871

This one was written even later than #8, and takes place in the same universe, though the style is completely different—it's a handful of letters from Elizabeth during the first two years of her marriage, attempting to give an overview of her life and moods over those two years, filtered through a contemporary editor. It's probably my favourite of my Austen fics, tbh. But I love epistolary and pseudo-academia, so.

10. Ten Facts About Henry and Catherine Darcy (Pride and Prejudice - Austen) (895 words)
Hits: 4,944

Aw, Hal and Catherine made it in a second time! I didn't expect that, especially for another Ten Facts fic. (I was really into that for awhile.)

Sooo, overall, pretty clear that people know me for my Austen stuff, even at AO3 (another world from most Austen fandom spaces). It makes sense—it was the first fandom where I had the odd experience of being known by people I didn't myself know (still weird btw). Even I think of it as my "home" fandom, even though it's not my first, and I've had to stay the hell away for years.

But now there's wgdots, lol. You do you, y'all.
