anghraine: kuvira from legend of korra (kuvira (face))

I’ve been trawling my headcanons tag, and like… 99.9% of them are still dear to my soul.

[Later that day]

Eh, pulling them out of the tags:

- #1 at all times: Darcy is on the autistic spectrum (this is a pretty common headcanon, for kind of obvious reasons).

- Luke Skywalker uses the Skywalkers’ ancestral language with Anakin on the second Death Star; Anakin uses the language when he proclaims “I am your father,” but resolutely sticks to Basic on DSII until he’s reclaimed himself and is dying (I wrote a fic about it here).

- The Stewards’ origins as 1) a family of ultimately royal origin and 2) the descendants of a Faithful family in Númenor come together with the House of Húrin originally going back to a Faithful family established by Númenor’s first princess, Tindómiel.

- Vanozza dei Cattanei in The Borgias is Castilian, a courtesan out of Toledo originally named Juana de Castañeda.

- Darcy and Elizabeth have separate bedrooms along the lines of Congreve’s Millamant and Mirabell.

- The Elvish aesthetic of the First Age is primarily ancient Egyptian and ancient Greek (to go with Tolkien’s Egyptian-Byzantine-Roman influences with the Dúnedain).

- Kuvira from Legend of Korra chose to call herself ‘Kuvira’ after she was abandoned by her parents, guided by her quasi-foster mother Suyin Beifong.

- After the destruction of Arthedain, Fíriel of Gondor returned home with her daughters and lived in state as a Gondorian princess, while carefully making no claim to the throne for herself or her offspring.

- Lord ____ from P&P (Colonel Fitzwilliam’s father and Darcy’s maternal uncle, who has no name in the book) is in fact Lord Ravenshaw from Mansfield Park, the small and correct lord who was hosting the theatricals that John Yates was previously involved in. He is a total theatre geek and used to make his sisters read the female parts (with the more … assertive ones going to Lady Catherine).
He disapproves of Darcy’s marriage, but Elizabeth’s fondness for comedies and ready participation in the family theatricals helps win him over. Her evolution into a fabulous 1790s Whig political hostess cements their relationship, though.

- Faramir and Arwen have to navigate a somewhat difficult dynamic during Aragorn’s wars, with Faramir placed in the traditional role of regent as Steward of Gondor, but alongside an influential queen consort. They eventually form a strong alliance and friendship.

- Luke is 100% aromantic asexual, as is Tar-Telperiën of Númenor.

- Given Tar-Aldarion’s law, it seems pretty improbable that there were only four firstborn daughters in all those generations; rather, they did exist, but were pressured or otherwise prevented from pressing their rights under the law. Probably the most tragic case was that of Gimilzôr’s older sister Belzîrân, a driven and strong-willed woman who refused to surrender her claim and then mysteriously died.

- Henry Crawford is older than Mary Crawford, but by about eight minutes—he likes to seem older than he is and she likes to seem younger, so they don’t often mention that they’re actually twins, but … they are.

- Faramir is officially Prince of Ithilien, but in practice, Éowyn carries out many of the duties of the position while he serves as Steward of Gondor; it is possible to become a healer AND use her skills to defend her new home on the border of Mordor.

- Also, Faramir’s propensity for reading the minds of people around him could be creepy to her, but honestly she finds it weirdly hot.

- Denethor was actually quite fond of his niece Lothíriel of Dol Amroth, and she returned his affection and remained intensely loyal to him, even after his downfall and death (I wrote a fic about this here).

- Catherine Morland is older than Anne Elliot.
