anghraine: a cropped image of the official art for the mesmer class in the original guild wars game (mesmer (guild wars))

In honor of finally!!! getting the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title after fiFTEEN YEARS, a thing for my favorite location in any video game ever: pre-Searing Ascalon from Guild Wars: Prophecies.

Never forgive, never forget.

I reblogged this gorgeous aesthetic post for Eärendil and tagged it:

A fancast/aesthetic post for the f/f Darcy/Elizabeth AU that haunts me, with Simone Ashley as Catherine Darcy (f!Fitzwilliam Darcy) and Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elizabeth Bennet.
anghraine: a painting of a female luke skywalker by ralph mcquarrie (lucy (full body))
I wasn't able to work at cleaning up TJATSL/recording/original novel writing/academia reading for family reasons ... but I did have some fun digging into the place where my Lucy feelings and Skywalker feelings come together.

anghraine: a man with long black hair and a ring on his hand (faramir [hair])

[He was] personally courageous and decisive, but also modest, fair-minded, and scrupulously just, and very merciful. —JRR Tolkien

My favourite character in Middle-earth: Faramir of the House of Húrin, Steward of Gondor, Prince of Ithilien, Lord of Emyn Arnen, son of Steward Denethor II and Finduilas of Dol Amroth, and younger brother of Boromir. Through his mother, he is the nephew of Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth and first cousin of Lothíriel, Queen of Rohan.

He shares his name with Prince Faramir of the House of Anárion, brother of Aragorn’s foremother Fíriel; it appears to combine fára, “shore,” and mírë, “jewel.” His mother loved the seashore of her home.
anghraine: a painting of the sons of the 2nd earl of talbot by thomas lawrence; the elder is red-haired and rather plain, the younger black-haired and pretty (fitzwilliam and darcy)

Aesthetic post for the Fitzwilliams of Pride and Prejudice—my favourite of Austen’s families.

The extended Fitzwilliam family consists of the children and grandchildren of an unnamed earl, and several of them appear in P&P: Lady Catherine de Bourgh (née Lady Catherine Fitzwilliam), Fitzwilliam Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Anne de Bourgh, and Georgiana Darcy.

But the Stewards were wiser and more fortunate.

A moodboard for my eternal faves: the House of Húrin, better known as the Stewards of Gondor.

This one requires some context. Back in 2018, I felt like making some fic graphics, so I started doing some for my most popular fics, ranked by AO3 kudos. In 2020, I reblogged the one I'd made for Season of Courtship.

2018:
4. Season of Courtship (AO3)

Elizabeth did all she could to shield him from the frequent notice of either, and was ever anxious to keep him to herself, and to those of her family with whom he might converse without mortification; and though the uncomfortable feelings arising from all this took from the season of courtship much of its pleasure, it added to the hope of the future.

Pride and Prejudice, Ch 60

The one where Elizabeth and Darcy try to survive their engagement and the family dramas around it.

(Austen || Darcy/Elizabeth || canon-compliant P&P interquel || T)

2020:

I posted this in 2006 and it’s pretty suddenly leapt to my #1 most kudos’d fic, so … thanks to whoever recced it?

#nice things people say to me #not directly to me and i don't know who it was but someone sure said something nice somewhere

An aesthetic post for a textual ghost: the unknown wife of Elros and mother to Vardamir Nólimon, Tindómiel, Atanalcar, and Manwendil.

I imagined her as a Hadorian archivist in the early days of Númenor:

As far as public life went, she was remembered (when at all) as Istíriel, Tar-Minyatur’s beloved queen, decades his junior and dead of old age before half his life had passed. But among Númenórean academics, she loomed very large, even as they became increasingly male-dominated in later centuries. She was listed as founder or inspiration for nearly all their most beloved institutions. And it was rare to find a library or university without some commemoration of the loremaster Ithíriel, whose husband was a king.

An aesthetic post for Tindómiel of Númenor, daughter of Elros, the morning star of her people, for Legendarium Ladies April:

anghraine: a woman with short black hair (gwen thackeray from guild wars 2) casts a spell with pink/purple light (gwen)
I reblogged this photoset I made some time ago:

Favourite character aesthetics: Gwen Thackeray from Guild Wars

I want you to know: I do not like you. I do not forgive you. But most of all, I do not fear you. I hate you. There’s a difference.

I added:

I'm playing GW/GW2 again, and ... I love her so much.

tagged: #gwen: *embraces undying hatred* #me: you're doing great sweetie
anghraine: an armoured woman with a sword against a gold background (éowyn (pelennor))
I reblogged a moodboard for Éowyn that I'd made in July of 2018.

My friend, you had horses, and deed of arms, and the free fields; but she, being born in the body of a maid, had a spirit and courage at least the match of yours.

I added:

After the anniversary of stabbing the Witch-king with Merry, I was feeling this again.

anghraine: a painting of a female luke skywalker by ralph mcquarrie (lucy (full body))
I'm also feeling like working on Lucy, so obviously, I wrote neither and just made a moodboard. I really like this one for Lucy, though:

anghraine: elizabeth and darcy responding to their engagement in "austen's pride" (darcy and elizabeth (proposal))

So, moodboard/aesthetic thing for the otp to rule them all:
