Normally I just vaguely describe text posts I reblogged on a certain date, but this one really cannot be paraphrased:

[Text: Tumblr user problempippin posted on 15 Jan 2019 that "pippin is buff and the reason why boromir and other men of gondor describe him as childlike is bc in gondor all children are fucking shredded"]

I added:

#finally quality gondor content

[ETA 5/24/2024: this was mostly but not entirely tongue-in-cheek on my part! Tolkien is pretty clear that even Third Age Dúnedain are bigger and stronger than other people, including Elves, and their standards of physical strength are pretty distinct. I could believe that kids in Minas Tirith are shredded :P]

Since the Elon purchase, I've avoided using Twitter as much as possible. But I only just discovered (via Tumblr, obviously) Violet McVinnie's tradition of making "kiss and make up" videos for games she worked on at BioWare, which includes an absolute delight/horror of one for Mass Effect 3. I might have resisted the impulse to click it weren't Mass Effect, but it ... was, and then it was such absolute gold that I feel the need to also share it here.

If you lack inner fortitude like me, you will absolutely not regret clicking the video, or alternatively will regret it very much.

If you possess the strength to resist, I salute you.

I reblogged this kind of hilarious map of the USA by a truck driver who's driven through most of it.

anghraine: obi-wan in anh, frightening the sand people; text: damn you kids! get off my lawn! (obi-wan [off my lawn])
I reblogged an end of the year Spotify meme based in a site/app called "Judge My Spotify."

Tagged: #kjsj;afdk the epic score / two steps from hell/ queen fmk was extremely unexpected #lolololol
anghraine: a painting of a man c. 1800 with a book and a pen; the words love, pride, and delicacy in the upper corner (darcy (love)
I reblogged a post about the whole "/sigh where's my Mr Darcy?" trope of Austen fans that then added that he's likely at home, avoiding people.

I tagged it: #looooool #but it's true #if there's any swerve in austen fandom i'm happy about #it's the shift from suave masterful alpha male romance lead darcy to cheerful acceptance that he is ... not that
anghraine: a shot of an enormous statue near a mountain from amazon's the rings of power (númenor [meneltarma])
I reblogged a post originally from sauronnaise asking Silm fandom to make a "brief but unhelpful" summary of The Silmarillion for The Hobbit+LOTR fandom. Silm fandom tends to be overwhelmingly focused on Elvish characters in The Silmarillion, especially the Noldor, and insistent that characters with big fanbases like Fëanor are more central to The Silmarillion (or even the Silm+LOTR) than I think they are, so at least the first posts focused on them. [personal profile] jubaah then responded:

Dunedain tragic backstory

I reblogged from her and added:

#'dúnedain tragic backstory' is the best and most accurate :P
anghraine: david rintoul as darcy in the 1980 p&p in a red coat (darcy (1980))
I reblogged this post from alphacrone about loving a character at 13 for being cool and smart and capable, while loving a character "now" who is endearingly stupid. The OP had reblogged the original post with the addition that people frequently responding that both statements are about the same character were "incredibly valid," which was the version I reblogged. My addition:

#fitzwilliam darcy #i mean ... honestly
anghraine: a shot of françois arnaud's face as cesare borgia (cesare (the borgias))
For context, there was a delightful Tumblr thread in which an anon said to the user tariqah:

Thots on the Pope

tariqah responded:

So the pope has thots now

fussybees added:

They're called cardinals I think

alice-exe then said:

crawling all over him like weevils

Then iphiesque superimposed this thread onto publicity shots of Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia), Giulia Farnese, Vanozza, and Cesare and Lucrezia in Showtime's The Borgias and said:

good evening borgias fandom

I reblogged it and added:

#SUMMONED LIKE THE KRAKEN #best fandom ever tbh

I reblogged a post about enjoying not being a teenager but also being lost by new Internet slang and added:

anghraine: an armoured woman with a sword against a gold background (éowyn (pelennor))

irresistible-revolution reblogged a jokey astrology post from hematophag on Tumblr about when each (sun) sign is the most productive or motivated and tagged it #okay drag me. I am not an astrology person, but I sometimes find it entertaining, so I looked at what it said for my sign (Pisces): "productive whomstve?"

I added:

#lmao i am also dragged

anghraine: rows of old-fashioned books lining shelves (books)

“[D]ramatists were actually imprisoned and otherwise harassed by the State for staging plays thought to be seditious … the dramatists fell foul of the law outside as well as inside the theatre; sedition, atheism, homosexuality and espionage are among the charges made against them” (Jonathan Dollimore, Radical Tragedy 25).

This is very serious, but also, a) seditious, b) atheist, c) gay, and/or d) spying sounds like a tag yourself meme.

My little cousin was helping my family unwrap our Christmas decorations, and it was like:

Mother: We've had these decorations since Elizabeth was a little girl.
Little cousin: O_O
Me: Well, a teenager. But that's a pretty long time ago now.
Little cousin: Really? How old are you?
Me: Thirty-five.
Little cousin: Wow, a really long time ago.

actuallygomezaddams on Tumblr posted a screenshot of an ad gone wrong: one which started "How To Tell if a Guy Likes You" and in the second half, added "Causes & Risk Factors. Interesting Facts. Preventative Measures. Signs & Symptoms"

I reblogged it and tagged it #ancalimë

This kept popping up on my f-list, so: some personality theory in the 1000 most common words in the English language. (Not counting theorist's names, which may be cheating, but whatever.)
